For the third year in a row, CornerCap joined ESPN Events, the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, and several leading Atlanta-HQ’d companies in sponsoring the third annual Air Force Reserve Celebration Bowl, the football national championship for Historically Black Colleges & Universities. We originally became involved through a good friend who organized this important event, and are proud to be a part.

The Celebration Bowl is a championship-style game between the MEAC and SWAC division champions. This year, North Carolina A&T defeated Grambling, the defending HBCU champion, 21-14 in an exciting game at the Georgia Dome. Once again, it was televised on ABC as the first college bowl game of the season.
As sponsors, we helped create awareness of the game and its purpose. We also had the opportunity to send 100 “at risk” kids to the game, working with several leading nonprofits in Atlanta.
“Our sponsorship allows us to have an incredibly positive impact on our city,” said Cannon Carr, Chief Investment Officer of CornerCap and a member of the Executive Committee for the game. “The game and associated programs celebrate high achievement in sports, academics, and personal development.” Cannon was able to attend the game with his three sons for the second year in a row.
“We are thrilled to help send kids to an event that can enrich their holiday season and provide great, long-standing memories.” added Ray Peebles, Senior Portfolio Manager. "Many of these kids don't have an opportunity to attend such a game in the new Mercedes-Benz stadium."
